I sometimes feel that K-Drama locating is driven by instantness; like a cup of ramyun. Quite a lot of people look for the recent locations they have seen in their current favorite dramas. But what we’re missing out here is the depth and the K-Drama history of a lot of these sites and also a sense of how the web of (familiar) locations has changed in some parts and where it has accompanied us viewers for decades.
Who would have known, for instance, that one of the important locations of Goblin, was already a very important location more than a decade before that in 2005’s Lovers in Prague?
So recently, I set out to unearth K-Dramaland locations’ history. Because apart from actresses and actors we see again and again and re-discover over the years, it is the locations that give us viewers comfort and a sense of familiarity. We know the places our protagonists walk through, dwell in and live in in K-Dramaland.
And one of the charms of K-Dramaland is that after a couple of years of watching, we recognize a lot of the places as easily as the places we frequent and pass by in RL. This Saturday Summary is a testimony to this.

Seeing this garden at length in Devilish Joy, was the first time that I understood how it is laid out and it is now definitely on my must-see location list.
SPOTLIGHT ON AN AREA: ITAEWON
In the past months, K-Dramaland made a point to show a rather unknown side of Itaewon, its tiny alleyways, nice cafés and boutiques; a neighborhood to dwell in. In particular, My ID Is Gangnam Beauty showcased this area recently, after Cross and Avengers Social Club as well as >Hwayuki already highlighted some of its places in the past months.
