Yeouido Hangang Park [한강 공원 여의도 지구] encompasses all park areas on Yeouido Island that border the Han River. Most locations filmed at this park are filmed east of Wonhyo Bridge at the Yeouido Landscape District, and some others west of Hangang Railway Bridge. Mulbit Square is also located in this park.
The park itself is part of the larger Hangang Park [한강공원] system, which is made up of 12 parks in total, built between 1982 and 1986. It also consists of Gwangnaru Park, Jamsil Park, Ttukseom Park, Jamwon Park, Ichon Park, Banpo Park, Mangwon Park, Yanghwa Park, Nanji Park, Gangseo Park, and Seonyudo Park. Since 2007, Hangang Park has been gradually redeveloped under the ‘Hangang Renaissance Project‘ (한강르네상스 사업), with an intended completion in 2030. This is one of the first four parks that reopened to the public again in 2009 after renovation under the Hangang Renaissance Project.
This site was selected in 2012 as one of 100 regular filming locations for movies and dramas by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Film Council, and featured in the brochure The Places In Seoul Cinema Fell in Love With (영화가 사랑한 서울 촬영지 100선). In May 2016, the ‘I·SEOUL·U Sculpture’ was installed in this park. A month later it was removed and reinstalled in Children’s Grand Park and —following K-Dramaland— returned to Hangang in 2019.
Yeouido Island is part of Seoul’s neighborhood Yeouido [Yeouido-dong/여의도동], in the Yeongdeungpo District [Yeongdeungpo-gu/영등포구].
