The 12 Pillar Building [12주(柱) 건물 or 12주건물] is a building designed by the late architect Cha Un-ki [차운기] (1955-2001), who is considered by some as the ‘Gaudi of Korea’. This building, which took 3 years to develop, derives its name from the 12 stones that leads to its entrance. It is now taken over by the Dongjo Company/Dongjo Co., which deals with machinery and equipment for the farming industry. The building is located in Seoul’s neighborhood of Singyo [Singyo-dong/신교동] that makes up parts of the neighborhood of Cheongunhyoja [Cheongunhyoja-dong/청운효자동] in the Jongno district [Jongno-gu/종로구].
