After telling Seon Dong-shik (Choi Jung-woo) that he won’t fall his scheme and having met Lee Seul-bi (Seo Ju-hyun/Seohyun of Girls’ Generation) and Seon Min-joon (Ki Do-hoon) at Oriole [오리올], Gong Soo-kwang (Na In-woo) looks down at the café lost in thought from this staircase in episode 9 of Jinxed at First/Jinx’s Lover (징크스의 연인) (KBS2, 2022)

Yoon Jae-min (Cha Seo-won/Lee Chang-seop) walks up and down this staircase in episode 33 of Second Husband (두 번째 남편/Du Beonjjae Nampyeon) (MBC, 2021) [SPOILER] after he heard that Bong Seon-hwa (Uhm Hyun-kyung) will be judged for murder.

After the movie, Yoo Na-bi (Han So-hee) and Kim Eun-han (Lee Jeong-ha) walk up this wooden pathway in episode 3 of Nevertheless/I Know But (알고있지만) (JTBC/Netflix, 2021).

Kim Sang-sik (Jung Jin-young) brings his wife Lee Jin-sook (Won Mi-kyung) to this staircase on their date in episode 12 of My Unfamiliar Family ([아는 건 별로 없지만] 가족입니다) (tvN, 2020) and he gets them take-out coffee like the youngsters do — as he always wanted to try it out too.

Hong-jo (Kim Myung-soo) — in his human form — walks along this stretch after leaving Kim Sol-ah’s (Shin Ye-eun) office building in episode 4 (full episode 2) of Meow, The Secret Boy/Welcome (어서와) (KBS2, 2020).

When driving Yeo Ha-jin (Mun Ka-young) back home and it starts to snow, Lee Jung-hoon (Kim Dong-wook) is thrown off by the memories of his ex-girlfriend’s death and abruptly parks the car in front of this staircase at the end of episode 4 (full episode 2) of Find Me in Your Memory (그 남자의 기억법) (MBC, 2020). He asks Ha-jin to take a bus home and they start to talk outside at the top of this staircase with him asking her if she knows his ex-girldfriend, which she denies.

At this staircase, Jang Geun-soo (Kim Dong-hee) struggles between his love for Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi) and [SPOILER] becoming the next CEO of Jangga Co. in episode 10 of Itaewon Class (이태원 클라쓰) (JTBC, 2020).

It is at this staircase the young Mo Seok-hee pleads with Han Je-kook (Bae Jong-ok) to let her stay in South Korea with her grandfather as seen in a flashback in episode 3 of Graceful Family/Elegant Family (우아한 가) (MBN, 2019).

After getting off the bus when arriving in Seoul in Track 1 of Hip Hop King – Nassna Street (힙합왕-나스나길) (SBS, 2019), Bang Young-baek (Lee Ho-won / Hoya, formerly of INFINITE) walks up to the top of this staircase to take in the view over his new home. Afterwards this becomes his refuge where he comes to write rhymes – like in Track 2. In track 4, this is where Young-Back comes after a fight at night. It is Song Ha-jin (Lee Na-eun) who finds him here on her way back home from her part-time job and directly runs back to get ointment to treat his wounds.

Lee Young-jae’s (Esom) older brother Soo-jae’s (Yang Dong-geun) coffee truck ‘Amor Fati’ is located at the top of these stairs in The Third Charm / The 3rd Charm (제3의 매력) (JTBC, 2018). On Joon-young (Seo Kang-joon) comes here to look him up in episode 3, and it is here that he finds out the truth about what happened on the night Young-jae broke up with him 7 years ago. In episode 4, Joon-young is back here and gets questioned in detail about his job, parents etc. by Soo-jae — as his sister’s boyfriend. Before he heads off on his backpacking trip to Portugal, Joon-young meets Soo-jae here for one last time.

Min Ha-ri (Koh Joon-hee) comes to this park after she has admitted to Kim Hye-jin (Hwang Jung-eum) in episode 11 of She Was Pretty (그녀는 예뻤다) (MBC, 2015) that she has fallen in love with Ji Sung-Joon (Park Seo-joon) and cries bitterly, while Hye-jin can only observe from afar.

Also seen in episode 28 of Laurel Tree Tailors/The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop (월계수 양복점 신사들) (KBS2, 2016).

This staircase [소월로 계단] connects Sowol-ro [소월로/素月路] with Sinheung-ro 20-gil [신흥로20길] in Seoul’s neighborhood Huam [Huam-dong/후암동] in the Yongsan District [Yongsan-gu/용산구]; a short walk to/from this other staircase.

Walking all the way down the stairs will lead to the cafe/restaurant stretch of the street, with other filming locations such as The 100 Factory [더백푸드트럭], Doodoong Namsan [두둥남산], and Oriole [오리올].

Getting here
Noksapyeong (Yongsan-gu Office) Station [녹사평역], Seoul Subway Line 6, Exit 2

▶ Take the Yongsan 02 bus from the Hanshin Apt bus stop (한신아파트 정류장) for 5 stops to Haebangchon Ogeori bus stop (해방촌오거리 정류장), located in front of a MiniStop convenience store.
▶ Walk straight up the slope (on Sowol-ro 20gil) till you reach the main road.
▶ Make a left turn (don’t cross the road) and walk against the flow of the traffic.
▶ The stairs will be on your left after you pass a green sign that says Hangil Church (한길교회).
