Sinchon Boxquare [신촌 박스퀘어]
Angry Kang Bok-soo (Yoo Seung-ho) passes through this mall at night at the end of episode 4 of My Strange Hero/Bok-Su’s Back (복수가 돌아왔다) (SBS, 2018-19). Talking to himself, he reminisces his past and how his life seems to get ruined again by the same persons as before.
Sincheon Boxquare [신촌 박스퀘어], opened in September 2018, is a three-story tall mall built out of 29 shipping containers. It houses nearly 60 shops mainly run by former street vendors (who often sold their products illegally near Ewha Womans University) and startups by young entrepreneurs. This mall was conceived to revitalize the neighborhood’s economy and enhance youth employment. Located in Seoul’s neighborhood Daeheung [Daeheung-dong/대흥동] in the Mapo District [Mapo-gu/마포구], it sits right vis-à-vis Sinchon Station on the Gyeongui Line [신촌역].
