Sejong National Arboretum [국립세종수목원] is South Korea’s first urban arboretum, which was opened to the public in October 2020 after 9 years of planning and construction. It is located in Sejong Special Autonomous City’s Yeongi Township [Yeongi-myeon/연기면], about 1.5-2 hours south of Seoul. The arboretum is about a 15 min. walk or an 8 min. car ride to/from Sejong Lake Park [세종호수공원].
Spanning 65 hectares (or the equivalent of 90 soccer fields), the arboretum “features 1.72 million plants of 2,834 species in 20 various thematic exhibition gardens“. Its many attractions include the Four Seasons Exhibition Greenhouse and a traditional Bonsai Garden.
