No. 36 — Cho Sang-woo’s mother (Park Hye-jin) owns a fish stall in this market, called “Sang-woo’s Fish Shop,” where she proudly displays photos of her successful son, who is the “pride of Ssangmun”, which is seen in episodes 1 and 2 of Squid Game (오징어게임) (Netflix, 2021).
Baegun Market/Baekwoon Market [백운시장] is a traditional market with a land area of 6585㎡, consisting of 28 buildings and 62 stores. The market, located in Seoul’s neighborhood Ssangmun [Ssangmun-dong/쌍문동] in the Dobong District [Dobong-gu/도봉구], was formed and operated autonomously by merchants in the 1970s. It was formally recognized and registered as a traditional market in 2019.
Part of the scene in When My Love Blooms was filmed along the nearby Baegun Bridge [백운교], which appears to have undergone some remodelling since it was featured in the drama.
