Obongsan Cliff [오봉산 마당바위]

Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist (2022); My Country: The New Age (2019); Saimdang, the Herstory (2017); The Royal Gambler (2016); Queen Seondeok (2009)

Yoo Se-poong (Kim Min-jae) and Seo Eun-woo (Kim Hyang-gi) run into each other the first time on this cliff in episode 1 of Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist (조선 정신과 의사 유세풍) (tvN, 2022) and she convinces him that it is worth to continue his life.

Seo Hwi (Yang Se-jong) and Nam Sun-Ho (Woo Do-Hwan) play-fight on this cliff as youngsters —in the year 1388— as seen in a flashback in episode 1 of My Country: The New Age (나의 나라) (JTBC, 2019).

Lee Gyeom (Song Seung-heon) thinks back to a time when young him (Yang Se-jong) and young Shin Saimdang (Park Hye-Soo) hung out here together and she played a song to him in the final scene of episode 2 of Saimdang, the Herstory/Saimdang, Light’s Diary/Saimdang, Memoir of Colors (사임당, 빛의 일기) (SBS, 2017).

Lee In-jwa (Jeon Kwang-leol) deadly injures Baek Dae-gil (Jang Keun-suk) on this cliff in episode 5 of The Royal Gambler/Jackpot (대박) (SBS, 2016) and a near-dead Dae-gil proposes a bet to grant a wish if he stays alive when falling off this cliff — which he does.

Obongsan Cliff [오봉산 마당바위] or Obong Mountain Cliff is a cliff on Obong Mountain [오봉산]. Obong Mountain is located in the village Cheonchon [Cheonchon-ri/천촌리] in Gyeongju’s township Seo [Seo-myeon서면]. The cliff itself is a 5-minute walk away from Jusa-am Hermitage [주사암] that is located on top of the mountain.

Please note: Obongsan Cliff is not the official name of this place. We added a little bit of K-Dramaland parlance as it seems that there is no ‘official name’ for this place.

Ahwa Station [아화역 (폐역)]
There is a hiking trail that leads up to the cliff that starts not far away from here. Prepare for quite a hike.
