Kaminarimon Gate Senso-ji [浅草寺 雷門] –or Thunder Gate– is the main outer entrance gate of the famous Buddhist Senso-ji Temple [金龍山浅草寺] located in Tokyo’s Asakusa District [浅草]. First built in the year 941, it had to be rebuilt after a fire; the current gate thus dates from 1960.
