In The Heirs (왕관을 쓰려는 자, 그 무게를 견뎌라 – 상속자들) (SBS, 2013), this restaurant is an important place for Cho Young-do (Kim Woo-bin). For him it symbolizes the loss of his mother and a friend as he tells Yoon Chan-Young (Kang Min-Hyuk) in episode 11. In episode 16, he has lunch here with Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye). Before she parts, he asks her to leave a promissory note for a future lunch together and she writes it at the restaurant’s wall. After she has left, Kim Tan (Lee Min-Ho) arrives at this place and tells Young-do to come with him instead of staying alone. In episode 18, Young-do is back here reminiscing his first crush.

Jin Halmeoni Tteokbokki [진 할머니 떡볶이] is located in Goyang’s neighborhood of Ilsan [Ilsan-dong/일산동] 1~3 in the Ilsanseo District [Ilsanseo-gu/일산서구]. Apparently it changed its name to ‘일산참숯불구이’ after The Heirs.
