Igari Anchor Observatory [이가리 닻전망대] is a 10m high and 102m long look-out pier in the shape of an anchor located in the village of Iga [Iga-ri/이가리] in the Cheonha Township [Cheongha-myeon/청하면] in Pohang’s Buk District [Buk-gu/북구]. Opened in mid-2020, this pier sits at the Pohang Section (#18)

of the walking trail Haeparang [해파랑길 제18구간]. This 19.4 km-long section leads through the coastal villages and their sandy, white beaches between Chilpo Beach [칠포해변] and Hwajin Beach [화진해변]. It is also part of the walking trail ‘영일만 해오름탐방로’, which covers a length of 39.2 km leading from Pohang Songdo Beach [포항송도해수욕장] to Hwajin Beach [화진해수욕장].

This pier and observatory were product-placed in Run On by Pohang City to promote attractions in the city nationwide as “tourist spots that can heal the body and mind exhausted from [the] corona[virus]”, as Park Jae-gwan, Public Relations Officer of Pohang City, told reporter Oh Ju-hoo (오주호) in December 2020.
