On his day-off, Im Geon-joo (Shin Dong-wook) spontaneously invites Park Chan-hyuk (Kim Ji-seok) to go to this restaurant with him in episode 13 of My Unfamiliar Family ([아는 건 별로 없지만] 가족입니다) (tvN, 2020) — as hearing how the birds sing in South Korea was something he’d always wanted to do.
Hyesimjeong [혜심정], opened in 1959, is a restaurant that specializes in local chicken dishes, now run by the 3rd generation owners. The house itself was built in the 1940s but got burnt down, then rebuilt as the restaurant is today: with 10 rooms and an outdoor space for 150 people.
This restaurant is located at the entrance of the Uidong Food Village [우이동 먹거리마을] in Uidong Valley [우이동계곡] in Seoul’s neighborhood Ui [Ui-dong/우이동] in the Gangbuk District [Gangbuk-gu/강북구].
