Park Mi-kyung (Keum Sae-rok) brings Ha Sang-soo (Yoo Yeon-seok) to the book shop of this space in episode 6 of The Interest of Love (Sarang-ui Ihae/사랑의 이해). He takes a closer look at the book Le Dernier Modèle (The last model) (2014) by Franck Maubert about Giacometti and they start to bicker about love relationships.

HOWS Seoul [하우스서울/하우스] also known as HOWS by Cafe Show (카페쇼), opened in February 2020 with the tagline ‘What you do(하는 일)’ and considers itself as a ‘coffee culture space’ and ‘pop-up platform,’ which brews coffee, makes products and plans exhibitions.

The space was created by architectural studio FHHH Friends (푸하하하 프렌즈), the furniture was done by jeonsan system (전산시스템) and artist Junho Son contributed two central images. Particular to this place might be that all the furniture is made out of the same wood, which gives it a simple and coherent atmosphere of a … ‘house’ or the German ‘Haus’ (a homonym to ‘HOWS’).

The place spreads across three floors —a café and a gallery are to be found on floors 1F and B1 and a book store on F2— of the Dongnam Building [동남빌딩], which is recently sometimes also referred to as Story 2003 Building [스토리2003빌딩]. The building, which was completed in 1989 and sold around March 2017 for KRW 6.365 billion, is located in Seoul’s neighborhood Jamsilbon [Jamsilbon-dong/잠실본동] — administered by the neighborhood Jamsil [Jamsil-dong/잠실본동] — in the Songpa District [Songpa-gu/송파구].
