Kwon Jung-rok (Lee Dong-wook) brings Oh Yoon-seo (Yoo In-na) to this gamjatang (spicy pork bone stew) eatery in episode 6 of Touch Your Heart/Reach of Sincerity (진심이 닿다) (tvN, 2019) after winning the Im Yoon-hee case. When asked why he chose to have a drink with her instead of going to the company dinner, Jung-rok’s reply was a simple, “I just wanted to have a drink with you.” In episode 14, she returns here after inviting Jung-rok out for a drink — to which he takes up her offer, despite them having broken up. Shortly after he arrives, he asks her to head out to have a talk.

Honam Sikdang [호남식당], opened in 1992, is a sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) restaurant, located in Seoul’s neighborhood Gongdeok [Gongdeok-dong/공덕동] in the Mapo District [Mapo-gu/마포구]. In May 2021, Esquire reported that this restaurant is already over 30 years in business. The sundae soup served here contains perilla leaves and sesame seeds and the basic soup can be refilled.

This restaurant is listed as one of the five “old-fashioned restaurants” in Gondeok — together with Mapo Jinjja Wonjo Choidaepo [마포진짜원조최대포본점] and Wonjo Mapo Kkeobdegijip [원조마포껍데기집] — in Esquire’s old-fashioned taste map series (노포맛지도 시리즈). It is highlighted how “due to the active redevelopment since the 1990s, many high-rise buildings and residential-commercial apartments have been built” in this neighborhood, “but you can still see old-fashioned restaurants that keep the time in every corner of the alley.”
