Han Yoo-kyung (Han Seung-yeon, formerly of Kara) stops in front of this ‘photo studio’ in episode 1 of Twelve Nights (열두밤) (Channel A, 2018) on the first day of her short 4-days stay in Seoul in 2010. She decides to walk inside and the shop owner Lee Ri (Ye Soo-jung) tells her that she sees keen photographer eyes in Yoo-kyung. At the end of the day, Yoo-kyung comes running back here and to her surprise Cha Hyun-o (Shin Hyun-soo) opens the door — their fourth fated meeting: he is here to let photos taken of him and she is here to develop her photos (which continues to episode 2). She comes back here in episode 2 to get the photos she has developed that night. They are both back here in episode 3.
Kim Myeong-ha (Kim Min-gue) waits in a cafe on this street for his exchange student ‘buddy’ Mong-mong (Elkie from CLC) in episode 11 of Rich Family’s Son (부잣집 아들) (MBC, 2018), who had asked him to bring her to a public bath as there was no hot water where she was staying. His initial grumblings were subsequently soothed over when he saw her looking fresh (and pretty) after her bath.
Aya [아야] is a milliner’s (hat shop), and not a cafe or a photo studio as K-Dramaland makes it out to be. Opened in 2012, it proposes handmade hats, usually made out natural fibers. The unique hats are created by the hat shop owner – who studied fashion design at ESMOD Tokyo, to match everyday clothes. Their price ranges between 150,000 ~ 250,000 Won. It’s located on Gyedong-gil [계동길], the central street of Seoul’s neighborhood of Gye-dong [계동] in the Jongno district [Jongno-gu/종로구], that is part of Bukchon Hanok Village [북촌한옥마을].
