Gosanjeong Pavilion [고산정/ 孤山亭] was built by a scholar called Geum Nan-su (1530-1599; however, some sources say he died in 1604), who lived during the mid-Joseon era. He was a student of writer and philosopher Yi Hwang (이황/ 李滉), also known as Toegye). It is said that Geum built this pavilion in 1564, or the 19th year of King Myeongjong’s reign, and became a place where many of the scholars, including Toegye-seonsaeng himself, came to visit because of the beautiful scenery.
The pavilion is located in the village of Gasong [Gasong-ri/가송리] in Andong’s Dosan Township of Dosan [Dosan-myeon/도산면].
