Ko Woo-young (Lee Do-hyun) and Choo Ae-rin (Lee Mi-do) have a heart-to-heart talk at night at the stairs of this café after she found out that he is, in reality, Hong Dae-Young (Yoon Sang-Hyun), in episode 7 of 18 Again (18 어게인) (JTBC, 2020). In episode 8, Woo-young and Jung Da-Jung (Kim Ha-neul) pass by this café when she sits down on its stairs because of her blisters and he goes to search for ointment; while in episode 12, Hong Shi-a (Roh Jeong-eui) calls her father from the same spot — missing him badly. It is also here in episode 14 that Seo Ji-ho (Choi Bo-min of Golden Child) confesses his feelings to Hong Shi-a (Roh Jeong-eui) in front of this café, and she responds by letting him hold her hand.
Dongbaek Store Yeonnam [동백양과점 연남] –sometimes also Dongbaek Yanggwa Store Yeonnam– is the Yeonnam branch of Dongbaek café, which started out with its first store in Ikseon-dong in November 2017. Dongbaek is a rather pricey vintage-style café that is known for, as Seoulbitz puts it, “its fluffy souffle pancakes, topped generously with fresh whipped cream“, also available in seasonal flavors.
The Yeonnam store is located in Seoul’s neighborhood Yeonnam [Yeonnam-dong/연남동], in the Mapo District [Mapo-gu/마포구], a short walk to/from The April [디에이프릴], Shinsegae Supermarket [신세계슈퍼마켓] (closed), and J.Two Flower [제이투].
