After being evicted from her house and on her way to Yoon Tae-oh’s (Ji Soo) house, Han Song-yi (Jung Chae-yeon) passes by on both sides of this café dragging her most important belongings behind her in a suit case in episode 1 of My First First Love/Because It’s My First Love (첫사랑은 처음이라서) (Netflix, 2019) until sitting down exhausted on the stairs in front of it.
Kim Jin-hyeok (Park Bo-gum) asks Cha Soo-hyun (Song Hye-kyo) for marriage in front of this café on their reunion date in final episode 16 of Encounter/Boyfriend (남자친구) (tvN, 2018-19).
Nam Se-Hee (Lee Min-ki) passes by here once when running up to Naksan Park to safe Yoon Ji-ho (Jung So-min) and afterwards when coming from Naksan Park; this time hand in hand with his wife in episode 9 of Because This Is My First Life/This Life Is Our First (이번 생은 처음이라) (tvN, 2017).
This café appears as Oh Cho-rim’s (Shin Se-kyung) house in Sensory Couple/The Girl Who Sees Smells (냄새를 보는 소녀) (SBS, 2015).
Café Gaeppul [개뿔] is located in Seoul’s neighborhood Ihwa [Ihwa-dong/이화동], in the Jongno District [Jongno-gu/종로구] that makes up parts of Ihwa Mural Village [이화 벽화마을]. The café is situated close to Naksan Park [낙산공원], and just a couple of hundred meters away from Ihwa-dong Village Museum [이화동 마을박물관] — Do Bong-soon’s and Yoo Hye-Jung’s house.
Aside from being a café, it also houses a small museum, which documents the history and structure of Naksan Castle and other buildings in Ehwa-dong through photographs and drawings.
