The prosecution and detective team chase down schizophrenia patient Jo Han-soo to this cliff in episode 21 (full episode 11) of Partners for Justice 2/Investigation Couple 2 (검법남녀 2) (MBC, 2019). Even as prosecutor Do Ji-han (Oh Man-seok) attempts to convince Jo that they are all there to help him, the latter ends up jumping off the cliff and into the river below.
On Dal (Lee Jong-hyun from CNBLUE) shows Song Soo-jung (Gong Seung-yeon) how to fly a kite on the top of this cliff, and end up kissing in episode 13 of My Only Love Song (마이 온리 러브송) (Netflix, 2017)
In Joseon times, Sharon (Seo Ji-hye) tries to drown herself in a river and Jang Baek-hee (Jang Mi-hee) finds her lying unconscious underneath this cliff in episode 6 of Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me (흑기사) (KBS2, 2017-18). “You’ve become neither human nor ghost,” Baek-hee salutes Sharon, tells her that she cannot die and takes her in.
Joseon acupuncturist Heo Im (Kim Nam-gil) and Choi Yeon-kyung (Kim Ah-joong) find themselves teleported from the year 2017 to this cliff in Joseon times at the end of episode 7 of Live Up To Your Name, Dr. Heo/Deserving of the Name (명불허전) (tvN, 2017).
The 4th prince Wang So (Lee Joon-gi) passes by this cliff when he comes back to the palace after one year of absence in episode 12 of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (달의 연인-보보경심 려) (SBS, 2016). It is also where the 8th prince Wang Yo (Hong Jong-hyun) is cornered after he is accused of treason and is killed by Wang So in a last fight in episode 13.
Park Yoon-Kang (Lee Joon-gi) shoots Choi Won-shin (Yu Oh-Seong) three times in his quest for vengeance until the latter falls of this cliff in episode 15 of Joseon Gunman/Gunman in Joseon/The Joseon Shooter (조선 총잡이) (KBS2, 2014).
Jang Tae-San (Lee Joon-gi) gets cornered on this cliff by Im Seung-Woo (Ryu Soo-Young) in episode 5 of Two Weeks / 2 Weeks (투윅스) (MBC, 2013). But instead of dying by Seeing-woo’s gun, Tae-san, falls down the cliff after being shot with a slingshot by a stranger just before Seung-woo’s bullet can hit him.
This is Magistrate Eun-Oh’s (Lee Joon-gi) secret place in Arang and the Magistrate/Tale of Arang (아랑사또전) (MBC, 2012). He comes here in episode 5 furious after Ah-rang (Shin Min-A) has told him that his mother certainly left because of his ‘bad mouth’. In episode 7, Eun-oh comes here again in search for a talisman that is placed on a tree on this cliff. When climbing up the tree to get the talisman, he falls of the cliff and is saved by Ah-rang who came looking for him.
Buyongdae Cliff [부용대] — also known as ‘(Sageuk) Cliff of Non-Doom’ in K-Drama fan terms (or otherwise known tongue-in-cheek as the ‘Lee Joon-gi cliff’, since a number of his dramas was filmed there) — stands facing the Nakdong River [낙동강], east of the city of Andong [안동시]. It overlooks Andong Hahoe Folk Village [안동하회마을].
