Yeouido MBC Office Building [여의도 문화방송 사옥]
Shin Chae-kyeong (Yoon Eun-hye) and Crown Prince Lee Shin (Ju Ji-hoon) give a televised interview at this station in episode 20 of Goong/Princess Hours (궁) (MBC, 2006) –– one which would have major repercussions because [SPOILER] Chae-kyeong brings up divorce.

Brighten Yeouido [브라이튼여의도오피스텔], which also goes by the name Brighten Officetel, is a 49-storey, 168m tall officetel building complex located in Seoul’s neighborhood Yeouido [Yeouido-dong/여의도동] in the Yeongdeungpo District [Yeongdeungpo-gu/영등포구]. It is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in April 2023. Four buildings in total are planned on this site, to create a commercial, residential and culture complex. The progress of the construction site is documented and discussed at this webpage.
Until 2018, the building of the former MBC headquarters were located here. The now-demolished 10-storey building (with a rooftop and additional two basement levels) was created by Kim Jeong-sik (김정식) for Junglim Architects & Engineers (대한민국 정림건축 종합건축사사무소). At the time, the building was referred to as the ‘crystal in a concrete forest’ (‘콘크리트 숲 속의 크리스탈’) because of its circular shaft facing the road symbolizing “communication and relationships” and its purple tiles and reflective glass that was used to express “the progressive image of the mass media in the changing Korean society, free from the limits of modernism of white architecture, but also embody a cheerful urban expression and sense”. The architecture studio received the Grand Prize of the 1982 Seoul Architecture Awards (1982 서울특별시 건축상) for this building.
On March 17, 1982, MBC opened the MBC Yeouido Studio [MBC 여의도 스튜디오] at the previous building, and subsequently relocated their headquarters to this Yeouido site in 1986. At the beginning of August 2014, MBC then transferred all functions of this Yeouido office building to the new headquarters at the MBC Broadcasting Station Building [MBC문화방송 본사]. This Yeouido building was apparently used as a MBC studio until demolition, which started in December 2018 after MBC had sold the site in May 2018. On February 11, 2019, a symbolic demolition ceremony was held, during which the antenna was taken down.
