The fields of this farm are located on a road that Jeon Nok-du (Jang Dong-yoon) and Dong Dong-ju (Kim So-hyun) take on several occasions in The Tale of Nokdu (조선로코 녹두전) (KBS2, 2019). In episode 20 (full episode 10), Dong-ju thinks back to a time when they first held hands when walking down this road. In episode 26 (full episodes 13), takes this road after having broken up with Nok-du and he runs after her trying to understand her reasoning and in episode 27 (full episode 14), Nok-du walks down this road lost in thoughts.

One of the exit portals of the Goblin’s (Gong Yoo) house in Goblin/Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (쓸쓸하고 찬란하神 – 도깨비) (tvN, 2016-17) leads to these buckwheat fields. But this is also where the Goblin aka Kim Shin is buried in the Joseon times and where he decides to die again – this time for real in episode 6. He goes here with his “bride” Ji Eun-tak (Kim Go-Eun) so that she can take out his sword – the only way for him to die. But Eun-tak can’t hold the sword and thinks that a kiss might help. Kiss that totally takes Shin aback. This is also where Kim Shin picks the buckwheat flowers that he gives to Eun-tak when they meet for the first time at the Jumunjin Beach Breakwater in episode 1.

Young Lee Yeok (Baek Seung-hwan) and young Shin Chae-kyung (Park Si-eun) find shelter from the rain on this field in episode 3 of Seven Day Queen/Queen For Seven Days (7일의 왕비) (KBS2, 2017).

Borinara Hagwon Farm [보리나라 학원농장 or 넓은들 학원농장], run since 1994 as a tourist farm, is known for its vast barely fields that fill the area during spring and its Gochang Green Barley Festival that is hosted here annually in April since 2004. After the barley harvest, sunflowers take over the fields to be followed, from from late summer to early autumn, with buckwheat. A buckwheat flower festival takes place around September.
The farm is located in the village of Seondong-ri [선동리] in Gochang County’s [고창군] Gongeum Township [Gongeum-myeon/공음면].
