This jazz club (called ‘Round About Midnight’) is a regular meeting place in I Wanna Hear Your Song/Let Me Hear Your Song (너의 노래를 들려줘) (KBS2, 2019). In episode 5 (full episode 3), for instance, Ha Eun-joo (Park Ji-yeon of T-ara) asks Hong Yi-young (Kim Se-jeong of Gugudan) to meet up with her here, on the account that they were once friends. As Eun-joo is asked to join the bar’s pianist for an impromptu violin performance, Jang Yoon (Yeon Woo-jin) shows up at the bar, much to Yi-young’s surprise. When she eventually leaves the bar and hops into a taxi, it suddenly crosses her mind as to how he knew she’d even be there.

One of the most cringe-worthy situations happens here in episode 10 of My Secret Hotel (마이 시크릿 호텔) (tvN, 2014): At a company dinner, Koo Hae-young (Kim Ji-han) gets on stage to declare his love for his ex-wife, Nam Sang-hyo (Yoo In-na), who is already dating her boss, Jo Sung-gyeom (Namgoong Min).

It is also here that Lee Jong-ho (Park Young-gyu) proposes to Oh Hee-sun (Kim Hye-eun) in episode 7 of My Lovely Girl (내겐 너무 사랑스러운 그녀) (SBS, 2014).

Han Yeo-reum (Jung Yu-mi) tends to Nam Ha-jin’s (Sung Joon) wounds here after his fistfight with Kang Tae-ha (Eric) in episode 5 of Discovery of Love/Discovery of Romance (연애의 발견) (KBS2, 2014), while jealous Tae-ha sits by.

In episode 19 of Fated to Love You/You Are My Destiny (운명처럼 널 사랑해) (MBC, 2014), this is where Daniel Pitt (Choi Jin-hyuk) and Kang Mi-young (Jang Na-ra) went out for a drink. Daniel went up on stage, and took the microphone to sing a ballad from the OST of Prince’s First Love for her.

We see a flashback of Joo Yeol-mae (Jung Yu-mi) and Yoon Seok-hyun (Lee Jin-wook) on a date in episode 1 of I Need Romance 2 (로맨스가 필요해 2) (tvN, 2012).

When talking about best kiss techniques with her best friends Sunwoo In-young (Jo Yeo-jeong) and Kang Hyun-joo (Choi Song-hyun), Park Seo-yeon (Choi Yeo-jin) remembers a kiss at this bar in episode 5 of I Need Romance (Romaenseuga Pilyohae/로맨스가 필요해) (tvN, 2011).

Seon Woo-hwan (Lee Seung-gi) and Yu Seung-mi (Moon Chae-won) meet here for a drink in episode 4 of Brilliant Legacy/Shining Inheritance (찬란한 유산) (SBS, 2009), where he tells her that he’d be leaving for the States in two days. Before leaving, Seung-mi gives Woo-hwan a back hug in front of this place and asks him to stay.

For a second try to get closer to his crush, Kim Myung-soo (Kim Hee-cheol) asks Kang Se-mi (Ahn Mi-na) to meet up at this venue in episode 6 of The Golden Bride/Bride From Vietnam (황금신부) (SBS, 2007-08) and she finds him on stage playing the piano and singing thinking that she will certainly fall for this (for him) romantic gesture.

Lee Min-chul (Lee Byung-hun) brings Kim Yun-soo (Choi Ji-woo) to this bar in episode 6 of Beautiful Days (아름다운 날들) (SBS, 2001) to thank her for supporting Lee Min-ji (Shin Min-a) in earning her first salary (through drawing), and he asks her to draw a portrait of himself.

Once In A Blue Moon [원스인어블루문] was a jazz bar located in Seoul’s neighborhood Cheongdam [Cheongdam-dong/청담동] in the Gangnam District [Gangnam-gu/강남구], on the same street as TAG Heuer Cheongdam [태그호이어 부티크 청담점] and Karaoke Pasha [가라오케 파샤].

The stalwart jazz bar, which opened in 1998, closed down in November 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There now seems to be something called Jazz Culture [재즈문화] in its place, though the original building still says ‘Once In A Blue Moon’ as of April 2021.
