63 Square [63스퀘어] is also known as 63 Building [63빌딩] and the Golden Tower. This building, completed in 1985, was constructed as a landmark for the 1988 Summer Olympics, and was the tallest skyscraper in South Korea until 2003. This Hanhwa Group-owned building is the headquarters of a number big conglomerates in South Korea. Aside from corporate use, there are also retail stores, duty-free shops (Galleria), F&B, an art gallery and observatory also known as Sky Deck (63Art) on the 60th floor, an aquarium (Aqua Planet 63 [아쿠아플라넷 63, formerly 63 Seaworld], and a convention center in the Annex Building. The Grand Ballroom [63시티 그랜드볼룸], also known as Banquet Hall, is located on the second floor of the annex of the 63 Building. The Banquet Hall, which can accommodate up to 2,000 people, was fully renovated in 2010, 25 years after its opening, by Hanwha Hotels & Resorts. Formerly divided between the annex and the main building, the banquet hall was also regrouped on the 2nd to 4th floors of the annex building; including a Han River Terrace. At the moment of renovation, it was South Korea’s largest Grand Ballroom.

This building was selected in 2012 as one of 100 regular filming locations for movies and dramas by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Film Council, and featured in the brochure The Places In Seoul Cinema Fell in Love With (영화가 사랑한 서울 촬영지 100선). This building is also one of the 380 traditional and modern-contemporary buildings in Seoul that were selected for the The Seoul Architectural Guide (2013, page 162).

The building is located in Seoul’s neighborhood Yeouido [Yeouido-dong/여의도동] in the Yeongdeungpo District [Yeongdeungpo-gu/영등포구].
