Separated by force from Nam Shin, her only son, inventor Oh Ro-ra creates an AI robot version of him that ‘grows up’ and functions just like a real human. When she discovers that the human Nam Shin was involved in an accident within meters from where she was and became comatose, a devastated Ro-ra vows to nurse her human son back to health. In his place, her ‘robot’ son, Nam Shin III, would function as the real person in his position at his grandfather’s company. Many were surprised by the ‘new’ Nam Shin’s 180 degree change in attitude — none more so than his bodyguard, Kang So-bong, who was once mistreated by him. FILMING LOCATIONS
The drama’s narrative starts off in the Czech city of Karlovy Vary, Nam Shin III’s place of invention, with scenes of majestic stone castles and old-world European towns with cobbled streets. As Nam Shin III returns to Korea as a stand-in for his comatose human namesake, we step back into the bustle of the present, and into Incheon’s Songdo IBD district — where the PK Group headquarters stand tall. Many other scenes in the show take place in the area, like NC Cube Canal Walk and the rooftop/helipad of Meet You All Tower [미추홀타워].
Are You Human also boasts some impressive architectural gems of filming locations, just like the Nam residence and Ro-ra’s hideout, along with traditional treasures like the restaurant where the marriage discussion fizzled out in episode 10/11.
